In 1994, she became a history-maker being the first African American and African American female to graduate from the School of Religion at the esteemed Belmont University in Nashville, TN with a B.A. in Liberal Arts, a school that once was a slave plantation in its earlier years. Here is where she began to take music, arts, collegiate ministry and her faith into today’s cultural through multi-media. She has an extensive background (13 years) in music, publishing and media product development. She has hosted and VJ for Christian music shows and developed multi-media product for major companies such as, Urban Ministries, Inc. the largest independent African American Curriculum Company in the world. Well known for her development of CCM Communications first magazine dedicated to the Urban genre of music, called CCM Urban, a.k.a., “U Magazine”.

She now writes for many music magazines, such as CCM Magazine, Gospel Truth Magazine and Street Chronicles and others across the world, featured in many sharing her testimony of healing, faith, abstinence and purity.
Besides putting a megaphone to the hearts of Christian music artists, JoAnn’s goals for the future is to strongly proclaim the message of the Gospel through creating, teaching, and preaching the message of Christ through the gifts and talents that she’s been granted. But all of her “overachieving” is really about leaving a legacy for generations to come. “I want people to see the breath of God in me and the work that is accomplished. Through all of this, the singing, the writing, the products of the future, all of it… is for people to see the breath of God and understand how valuable life is at this given moment!” She has a strong stance for purity and abstinence, being that she is a woman of virginity and delivered from cancer. These two truths alone open the door for a strong role model for young adults and women of today.
